Sambar
Savor the vibrant and aromatic flavors of our Sambar, a beloved South Indian staple that tantalizes the taste buds with its rich, tangy, and spicy notes. Made with a delightful blend of lentils, tamarind, and an assortment of vegetables.
Ingredients:
1 cup organic toor dalĀ
2 organic carrots, diced
1 organic drumstick, cut into 2 inch pieces
1 organic onion, chopped
1 organic tomato, chopped
1 organic brinjal, chopped
1 organic potato, diced
1 organic capsicum, chopped
1 tablespoon organic tamarind paste
2 tablespoons organic sambar powder
1 teaspoon organic turmeric powder
1 teaspoon organic cumin seeds
1 teaspoon organic mustard seeds
1 tablespoon organic ghee
Salt to taste
2 cups of water
Organic coriander leaves for garnish
Recipe:
1.Rinse the organic toor dal and soak it in water for 20 minutes.
2.In a pressure cooker, add the soaked toor dal along with 2 cups of water, turmeric powder and salt. Cook for 4-5 whistles on medium flame.
3.In a separate pan, heat organic ghee and add organic cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Once the seeds start to splutter, add chopped onions and sautƩ till they turn translucent.
4.Add all the chopped vegetables, sambar powder, and tamarind paste to the pan. Mix well and sautƩ for 2-3 minutes.
5.Add 2 cups of water and mix well. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes or until the vegetables are cooked.
6.Once the pressure in the cooker is released, open it and mash the cooked dal.
7.Add the cooked vegetables to the dal and mix well.
8.Garnish with organic coriander leaves and serve hot with organic rice or idli or urad vada
