Medu Vada
Immerse yourself in the crispy and savory delight of our Medu Vada or Urad Dal Vada, a popular South Indian snack that is loved for its golden-brown exterior and soft, fluffy interior.
Ingredients:
1 cup organic urad dal
2 green chillies, finely chopped
1/2 inch ginger, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
A few curry leaves, chopped
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Recipe:
1.Wash the urad dal well and soak it in water for 4-5 hours.
2.Drain the water and grind the urad dal to a smooth paste using very little water.
3.Transfer the urad dal batter to a mixing bowl.
4.Add the green chillies, ginger, asafoetida, cumin seeds, curry leaves and salt to the mixing bowl and mix well.
5.Heat oil for frying in a kadhai or deep frying pan.
6.Wet your palms and take a small portion of the batter.
7.Make a hole in the centre of the batter and gently slide it into the hot oil.
8.Fry the vada on medium heat until it turns golden brown and crispy.
9.Drain the vada on a tissue paper to remove excess oil.
10.Serve the hot vada with chutney or sambar.
